Message from the Director, Endowment and Alumni Programmes – Dr Rose Otieno
“Greetings and a warm welcome to the website of the Endowment and Alumni Programmes Directorate (EAPD) at Kenyatta University. On behalf of the Directorate, I welcome you to explore our website and interact with us. The Endowment and Alumni Programmes Directorate at Kenyatta University was established in August 2018 with the purpose of coordinating and consolidating all activities relating to endowment, resource mobilization, scholarships and the alumni programmes. The main aim is to marshal resources to establish a strong financial base supported by robust investments so as to ensure impact and sustainability; provide scholarships for students and staff and engage alumni and well-wishers in supporting Kenyatta University’s mission and vision. Therefore EAPD focuses on fostering relationships with alumni and well-wishers worldwide. The EAPD has four sections: endowment (sustainable investment and management) alumni affairs (relations and support), Kenyatta University Foundation (Fundraising) and financial aid office (scholarship support for students and staff).
EAPD aims to support the University’s pursuit of excellence in education, research, and community service through establishing strong partnerships with alumni and well-wishers. EAPD provides the bridge between donors and schools and programs, staff and students that make up Kenyatta University. The focus of EAPD is to marshal resources in order to establish endowments that would support scholarship and programs that positively impact on Kenyatta University. Further EAPD creates opportunities for alumni to engage and participate in activities that support KU in achieving her vision and mission through fundraising, investment, collaborations, partnerships with alumni, the public, the private sector and other stakeholders.
The mission of Kenyatta University (KU) is ‘to provide quality higher education and training, promote scholarship, service, innovation and creativity and inculcate moral values for sustainable individual and societal development’. The most important contribution KU makes to Kenya and the world therefore is the provision of quality higher education that can impact individual lives and transform society. In line with our vision ‘to be a dynamic, an inclusive and a competitive centre of excellence in teaching, learning, research and service to humanity’, the university endeavours to reach all aspects of society and impact communities in a positive way.
I wish to thank the EAPD Board at Kenyatta University for the great insight and commitment in supporting the directorate. Once again I welcome Kenyatta University’s friends, partners and alumni to continue to engage the directorate through your generous support that will enable the University to impact education and society in this generation.”
